There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature that is essential for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot after it has filled up.
Both robots are proficient at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and can move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested, the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is low it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. robot vacuum deals works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or by voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin, which eliminates a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and to move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. When connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world filled with cordless vacs that feel like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases cleaner air into your home. The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are not true. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to cover every area (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on an expensive robot. Its flat front allows it to reach corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The RoboVac X8 is a slick RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we've tested and could be a problem for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible through the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. robot vacuum deals allows you to monitor your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dust bin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that self-empties and helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Additionally, you can track the battery's status and return it to its dock for charging at the touch of one button. The app also lets you to personalize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum using different colors, so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's got stuck.
The app also makes it simple to steer the robot manually should you need to. My living room rug, for example, has a darkly-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
